Our Purpose

To support high performance success, pathway development and all levels of competition whilst enabling and promoting an active community.

The Queensland Sport and Athletics Centre (QSAC) is the home of high-performance sport and is the premier athletics facility in Queensland. The venue hosts international, national, state and local athletics meets for senior and junior levels, school carnivals, high performance training plus a variety of functions and events. High-performance users of the facility include the Queensland Academy of Sport, the Australian Women’s Football Team (the Matildas) during the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023, the Australian Men’s Football Team (The Socceroos), the Queensland Women’s Rugby League Team, the Brisbane Roar and the English Men’s Rugby Team. 

The venue is the home to the Queensland Academy of Sport (QAS), Queensland Athletic Association, Little Athletics Queensland, Softball Queensland, AFL SportsReady, Special Olympics Queensland, Sandstorm and Netball Queensland.


QSAC Facilities


Main Stadium 
QSAC’s Main Stadium features a World Athletics Class 1 ten lane Rekortan track surrounding an international standard playing field suitable for athletics events, high-performance sports and training and special outdoor events.

The Main Stadium can seat 48,500 patrons.

State Athletics Facility
The State Athletics Facility (also known as the SAF Track) is located next to the Main Stadium. It features a World Athletics Class 2 ten lane Rekortan track suitable for athletics events and high-performance training.

The State Athletics Facility can seat 2,100 patrons.

The facility is also the location for the National Throws Centre of Excellence, a high-tech, high-performance training centre for Queensland stars of discus, shot put, javelin, hammer, decathlon and heptathlon.

Queensland Academy of Sport
The Queensland Academy of Sport has a range of high-performance training and recovery facilities for athletes.

Sandstorm
The Sandstorm beach volleyball complex is a world class eight court beach volleyball facility suitable for social sports, school bookings and corporate functions.

Nissan Arena
Nissan Arena is a 5,000 seat, purpose built indoor venue suitable for diverse sport and entertainment events and is the home of Netball Queensland and the Queensland Firebirds.

 

Training at QSAC

QSAC features two international standard ten lane athletics tracks that have the following facilities available for training:

  • discus cage

  • hammer cage

  • high jump mats with uprights and crossbar

  • pole vault mat with uprights and crossbar

  • shot put circles

  • javelin runways

  • long jump/triple jump pits

  • training hurdles

Venue Hire

 

Facility Hire

 

QSAC has a range of facilities available to hire for events, including a 48,500 seat Main Stadium and a 2,100 seat State Athletics Facility, as well as numerous spaces around the venue.

QSAC can also been used for a wide range of activities other than sporting or entertainment events, including film shoots for television commercials, corporate days, product launches and more.
