Public transport to put Eminem fans in the Fast Lane

15/02/2019

Eminem fans are being encouraged to plan ahead, arrive early and make use of free public transport for next Wednesday’s RAPTURE concert.

Up to 45,000 fans are expected to attend the Grammy award-winning rapper’s 20 February concert at the Queensland Sport and Athletics Centre (QSAC), featuring the Hilltop Hoods, Boogie and Royce Da 5’9”.

QSAC Manager Mirella Taylor said it was important concert goers, motorists and nearby residents plan ahead to avoid delays.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming tens of thousands of Eminem fans to QSAC next week, but moving such a large volume of people in and out is a huge exercise, so we need people to be prepared,” Ms Taylor said.

“Public transport on Brisbane City Council buses and Queensland Rail trains is free with your concert ticket, and there’s no parking or pick up at the venue, so it really is the best way for patrons to ensure they get there on time to enjoy the show,” she said.

“We’re encouraging concert goers to get to QSAC well before the scheduled 5:45pm start time, with gates open from 4:45pm and plenty of merchandise tents and food and beverage stalls available.

“We want fans to lose themselves in the music, not at the venue, so know the location of the gate listed on you ticket, as you must enter via the specified gate.

“It’s also important to note that this concert is mid-week and changes to local traffic on the day are likely, so we encourage motorists and locals to consider an alternate route home if they’re likely to be effected”.

Head of TransLink Matthew Longland said concert goers will be able to catch dedicated shuttle services to the venue.

“Shuttle buses will run to and from QSAC from Brisbane CBD, Carindale, Garden City via Eight Mile Plains, Chermside and Banoon train station,” Mr Longland said.

“We encourage ticket holders to plan their journey, particularly to check the time for their last service home as the concert is on a weekday.

“Shuttle bus details are on our website, and the TransLink Journey Planner can be used to plan connections to these shuttles, or to plan travel on scheduled services that travel to QSAC.”
